About the artist:
Peter Collis was born in London in 1929. He studied at Epsom College of Art and Design, London from 1947 to 1952. In 1969 he moved to Ireland from Surrey and has lived here ever since.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1990 and a Full Member in 1993. Held the position of Treasurer from 1994 to 1998 and has been on the Annual Selection Committee for the past 10 years. Conferred with Senior Membership of the Academy in 2002.
Collis has had solo exhibitions at the Emmet Gallery, Dublin, Wyvern Gallery, Dublin, Solomon Gallery, Dublin and the John Martin Gallery, London. He has participated in numerous mixed exhibitions including the annual exhibitions at the RA, RHA and Oireachtas.
His work is included in the public collections of AIB, Bank of Ireland, National Self-Portrait Collection, University of Limerick and UCD.
Collis's works are in private collections in France, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Germany, Jersey, UK, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Canada, Japan
